We ac- knowledge this incongruity and we recognize another- that of oyjfering a picture and a few picas of prose as a tribute to forty-five years of service rendered to Calvin College. First as a teacher and then as an administrator, Dr. Henry J. Ryskamp has figured in the consequence that today is Calvin College. The college is no less for having his mature insight and keen wit in its allegiance. And because he is such a man, we come to him unabashed, with our pictures and our prose. To generations of students Calvin College has been the Franklin cam- pus: the cupola lit up at night, the crowded reference room of the li- brary, the peculiar smell of the gym- nasium, the Commons. Now that tradition is being gradually replaced by the functional beauty of Knoll- crest.
