From roots grown deep in a common iaith springs the sturdy trunlc of general lcnowledge. And from this stalwart stem arise the varied branches ol individual pursuits. We are one in interpretation, many in expression, one in echo, many in voice. l-lere we share the inspiration of a choir's rich harmony and learn to create our own music, ccmpose our own songs. l-lere we relive stirring drama and the melliiluous poetry oi the masters ond attempt to create with our own pens. l-lere we admire the precise logic ol the ancients, analyze the radical theories of the moderns and begin to appreciate the dignity of our own Christian philosophy. This, too, is one. Unity, integration-but not uniformity-are our inheritance. No genuine student leaves these halls without having imbibed the essential learning and principles basic to the education of all who have preceeded and ol all who will follow us. Bible, history, music, philosophy, literature-these provide the vital elements for the initial budding and continued growth oi our several careers. They are the source of the physicians sympathy, the teacherls understanding, the artistxs sensitivity, the businessmans judgment. Unity, integration, are also our contribution. Through coordination of ideals and practice we encourage initiative. By the complex nature of our development itself we draw new, earnest seekers to our unifying root.
