46 wg' On the sixth day of August, l947, was begun the reconstruction ot a former Camp George army mess- hall into a temporary supplement to the science department. The site chosen tor this new building was the ground immediately west ot the dormitory. lt was to have been re-erected within six weeks. The science students, cramped for space, watched tirst with eager- ness, then with slowly waning hope as the erection and the sea- son progressed. October passed, November, then December. Still the building was not ready. Fi- nally, in the middle of lanuary, with the advent of the new semes- ter, the structure was completed and usable. J. .v-N vt... tzce ff. C3115 ture LHS W CCi..
