Bflfllop of Toledo His Excellency MOST REVEREND GEORGE J. REHRING, D. D. By being present at the Commencement exercises, and presenting the diplomas to the honored seniors, His Excellency, the Most Reverend George J. Rehring, D.D., Bishop ot Toledo, displays a sincere interest in the students of Calvert. Moreover, to the student plac- ing highest in a competitive Religion test, he awards the Bishop's Cross. He expresses by these actions, and also through his letters to the faithful, his interest in them and his concern tor their welfare. Because we realize how busy he is, and because we are grateful for his concern for us, the students oi Calvert take this opportunity to thank our Bishop for all he is doing and has done for Calvert and its students. ..4-

Prlhcibal REV. JOSEPH D. SHENK, M.A., B.S.E. Helping students with homework problems, selecting subjects best suited to a student's ability, directing girls and boys to a right vocation, all are part of a busy day in Father Shenk's lite at Calvert. Father is an ardent supporter ot school actitivites such as the prom, play, operetta, Cal- vert News, Calvertana, Band, athletics and the school clubs. His main interest lies, however, in the students' spiritual lite. Some ot the ways that Father increases devotion to Our Lord, the Blessed Virgin, and the saints are by providing the students with an annually conducted three-day retreat, by re-arranging the schedule so that students can attend Mass and receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays, and by personally helping them with any problem, no matter how small, they may have. The reason behind Father's great interest in the students' spiritual welfare is Father's deep devotion to the Catholic faith. The students all thank Father for his sincere interest and help. - 6 -
