'N 1 r 1-X f? li ff ..-. ,b.-i .V if Rpm' 40 - .Lf +I' ff' THE CLASS THAT WAS I I IS 1 time honored custom for some speaker to get up at grad tration and ya aste hundreds of words extolling the perfectly maiyelous class which is about to be lost to the school forever Unhesitantly he goes on to explain that this class established such a truly remarkable record that there neyer was and never yy ill be another one like it lhis year the speaker will more than follow the custom he yyill tell the truth XVay back in the freshman year we shou ed signs of a brilliant future by salting down the paper sale to our credit T hen after a long rest we again sprouted forth and staged the first junior class party ever witnessed in this Sel100l I he football players pulled off the first extraordin ary feat this year by going doyyn to Springfield FI here they took on the school team the alumni and the ofiicials ll in one game Not to be outdone the cage heroes decided on something great So they chose to be extremely polite andcon squently let our opponents take the game whenever our dear boys thought it would make them happy The scrrbblers put over the Calvert News by keeping in mind that lf is quality not quantity which counts Catherine Carter is speedy when it diyision T hen the greatest surprise of all The senior boys came out Iirst in two consecutive campaigns Just about that time Ruth Daniel was chosen to talk her way into first place at the Girls Public Speaking Contest. Then John Hinchey decided that one ' tincup is enough for any school. He there- fore just fhitched up with the first honorable mention in the Boys' Contest. Eyen the mission unit has raked in more USimoleons' than in any previous year. And now to end the season with a bang vye have the crust to publish this yearbook knowing full well that the one of last year took an All-American rating.
