l lis Kingly Ministry .... The Scripture presents the contact of Jesus Christ with the world externally in three sections or chapters. We might say that there are literally three appearances or comings of Christ. The Old Testament prophets dealt with the first and the third: namely, His birth or incarnation, and secondly, His return to rule and reign on David's throne, whereas, the Gospels, the epistles to the Thessalonians and Revelation deal with the second as well as the first and third. There never has been any contention regarding the first and the third appearings and there is no ground for contention relative to the second, secret, silent, as a thief in the night , coming in the clouds. Let us remember that the motivating energy in Christ's appearings to the earth is God and, therefore, demonstrates conformity in revelation. God is always found in trinity, never in duality. The first appearing of Christ is history, The second appearing of Christ is eminent and those who have this hope in them are employing every means of purification anxiously awaiting that 'rapturous moment: but we are to deal with the third contact of Christ personally, physically, with this earth. Since this third coming involves a period of human history covering IOOO years from its inauguration to conclusion, we have coined the word millennium , lt is not found in the Scripture and comes from the combination milli meaning thousand and annum meaning years. Christ is to return as He went-personally, physically, visually, geographically, actually according to I Thess. l:7g to the Mount of Olives, Zach. I4:-4: for the purpose of ruling on the throne of David, Luke l:32: to subject all the nations, Rev. ll:I5. Christ's first coming caused Him 'to pass through all the spheres of human existence: 'beginning at the cradle, ending at the grave. His second coming has neither cradle nor grave nor any connection whatsoever with the physical realm except to change that which is physical instantly into spiritual. The locale is Heaven and the atmosphere, heavenly and fulfills Christ's purpose of John l4:4. The third appearing is with the accompaniment of His mighty angels, 2 Thess. I:7g the manifestation of mighty power and glory, Matt. 24:30. And last, but not least, when He descends to the earth the third time, He brings His Bride, the Church, back with Him. The fulfill- ment of many prophecies await this third coming of Jesus and His Bride and powerful angelic hosts to the earth. The saving of the elect from annihilation in the great tribulation, Matt. 24:22, which is foretold in both major and minor prophets, will demand the judgment indicated by the flaming sword and the power expressed in the armies of Heaven. The destruction of the Anti-Christ who will have exalted himself by that time as a usurper even to the sacredness of the Holy of Holies and the introduction ofthe abomination that maketh desolate. Both the tribulation and Anti-Christ are the handiwork and creation of Satan and his imprisonment is an absolute necessity to the purpose of peace on the earth: therefore, the great arch-angel with his chains casts Satan into the bottomless pit, Rev. 2O:3. Thus the battle of Armageddon fought on the plains of Mageddo between Anti-Christ and his armies of the world and Christ with His armies of Heaven, save the remnant of lsraelitish promise and prophecy, capture and cast into the lake of fire Anti-Christ and False Prophet and confine Satan in the bottomless pit for the period of IOOO years, and introduce to the world the reign of peace under Christ Who is the One and only Prince of Peace, 2 Thes. 218, I Cor. 15:25 All nations will pay Christ homage as He sets upon the throne of David in the city of Jerusalem, ruling the world in righteousness, Isa. II:4-IO. Then will the nations of the world study war no more and the implements of destruction will be converted to productivity. The desert shall blossom as the rose: the knowledge of the Lord shall cover the earth as the waters, the deep. Holiness unto the Lord shall be the theme song of all people. The lion and the lamb shall lie down together. Eutopia and Eden will open their arms and receive humanity back to their bosom and the day of the Lord will scatter the darkness of the long, long, night. Even so, Lord Jesus, Thou King of Kings and Lord of Lords, come quickly! Amen. -Dr, C. E. Britton
