CAI-VARY CALVARY .... WHERE LIFE BEGINS I'Iis Priestly Ministry .... Hebrews 8:I We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens . It is always important to find the central theme of scripture and make every- thing else subservient to it. In this Scripture set before us we will look steadily at the chief point- We have such a High Priest, God Himself, the very Son ot God, a true Man, obedient to His Father even unto death, the death of the cross: with us in the feeling of our infirmities, and become a Priest after the order of Melchizedek, in the power of an endless lite. After the death of the cross, in its humiliation, and the glory of the resurrection He sat down on the right hand of the throne ot the Majesty in the heavens . It is this truth that thrusts into our hand the golden key which unlocks the door that leads into the heavenly life upon earth. What was included in the appointment atter the order of Melchizedek? It is this that Jesus is not only Priest but King. ln Israel the office of King and Priest were kept separate, and it was Zechariah who foretold in his prophecy that He shall be a Priest upon the throne . The Priest represents purity, the King power: it is the glory of day of grace. that our Priest is also our King. As our King He has the power to give us access to God, and as Priest He has the power to cleanse us from sin, and in His Kingly power He rules over all. And that, as our High Priest He serves us the power of an endless life. He sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens. He is now in perfect fellowship with the Father. He has complete possession and disposal of all power in heaven and on earth, and we have such an High Priest. The overwhelming truth is a tact that Jesus is passed through the heavens made higher than the heavens, seated on the throne in the heavens, and that for one purpose, that He might unlock the door ot the kingdom of heaven for us. A minister of the sanctuary. A priest must have a sanctuary in which he dwells, to receive all who come to seek his God. Our High Priest has His sanctuary in the heavens: there He dwells and there we shall find Him: there He receives us, there He intercedes and there we meet God. As Jesus dwells in my heart by the power of the Holy Spirit, He will bring me into the presence of God, and as I live in Him, even now, I shall stand IN HIM complete before God in the sanctuary. My Great High Priest represents me in the courts of heaven. The power ot the endless life from the throne' of God has taken possession ot us. Let us not doubt. Let us plead God's promise I will make a new covenant . Let us trust God's Son the surety of that new covenant, we shall be brought into the covenant, and into the sanctuary together, and have grace to abide continually. -Dr. R. D. Morrison
