OPENING NIGHT OF THE SECOND SEMESTER-JANUARY 3I, I938 Calvary College was tirst tormed in the hearts ot our Godly leaders as the Holy Spirit revealed the mind ot the Lord. It was born not as an organization but as a living organism, and we tirst saw it in material torm on September I, I937 when the doors ot the college swung open, and the young men and women came in to register tor a deeper knowledge ot God and I-lis Word. I-low precious was the presence ot the Lord in those first days as the pioneer student body ot Calvary continued to walk sottly betore Him. We were tew in num-ber. to be sure, but we learned the truth ot that scripture which says, In Thy presence is tulness ot joy, at Thy right hand there are pleasures tor evermore . That great day-Graduation-came when our tirst eleven Iett us and close upon this event followed another quite as momentous-The opening ot the second semester. It seemed to be our tirst milestone by which we could measure our growth and progress. The bond ot love between our soul and Christ was strengthened as we wept around the altar, renewing and deepening our consecration. The Lord moved upon the hearts ot those who came in to be one with us in the College where we have learned that I-Ie must increase but I must decrease .

C O o A IEVARY E G E CALVARY .... WHERE LIFE BEGINS Christis Call to Service . When Jesus was journeying from place to place preaching. teaching and healing, He also had another mission in choosing men and women to follow Him and carry on the same ministry. His great heart was moved with compassion when He saw the people as scattered sheep-thrown down: left to die 'in their sin, utterly neglected and forsaken by those around them, therefore He must find some who were willing to take the responsibility of carrying the Good News. One morning, after a night of prayer He called His disciples and chose twelve, the Apostolate, to 'be with Him. In this group were men from various walks of life, tax collector, fisherman, etc. As He was walking by the sea of Galilee, He saw two brethren and saith unto them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men . Going on a bit further He saw others mending their nets, and He called to them, and they immediately left the ship and followed Him. ' Boats and business: father and mother: houses and lands were forgotten in that hour when they heard the definite call of Jesus Christ. Their lives were filled with intense fire, faith and fervor as they were called together and these instructions were given. Go, preach saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand, heal the sick, cleanse the Iepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give . --Bessie C. Smith
