William May led an active life of ministry for the Lord right up until the last year or two of his sojourn on earth. He is distinguished for minis- try during the first three phases of Calvary's histo- ry: Q11 president of Kansas City Bible College from 1932-38: Q21 co-founder of Midwest Bible and Mis- sionary Institute: and Q31 president emeritus of Calvary Bible College until his death. He was also involved in an extensive preaching and teaching ministry which included Bible conference speak- ing. adult Bible classes. radio preaching. and mis- sionary trips. His varied career always centered on fundamental Christianity. Dr. May's ministry was characterized by humil- ity. consistency. godliness. and devoted expectan- cy of the Lord's imminent return. He began preach- ing in 1905 at the age of 18. He and Glayds Wood- bury became marriage partners on June 22. 1916. L . Mpc Dr. Nye J. Langmade was a founder and first presi- dent of the Midwest Bible and Missionary Institute in 1946. which later became Midwest Bible College. He received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Calvary Bible College in-1965 following the merger of Midwest and Kansas City Bible College ln 1961.- He had been in the Lord's work for more than 50 years by the time of his death. having held a part-time pastorate in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area while he was operating a chain of grocery stores. He entered the full- time ministry in 1927. Dr. Langmade was one of the founders of Salina Bible Church in 1932 and was its pastor until 1946. He also was president of the lnde- pendent Fundamental Churches of America from 1940 to 1942 and ex- ecutive secretary of the IFCA from 1950 to 1955. Dr. Langmade was promoted to glory on October 4, 1967. at his home in Salina at the age of 75. His ministry to Calvary ls being perpetuated through his sons, Oli- ver and Douglas. as they serve on Calvary's Board of Trustees. Doug also serves as Assistant t6 the President for Stewardship and De- velopment. and enjoyed 60 blessed years together. Mrs. May died on January 5, 1977. within one year of the unexpected deaths of their two children. Leslie and Martha. Dr. May himself went to be with the Lord within another year and a half on June 12. 1978. 4
