Do you have a time set aside in your busy schedule here at school to learn from the Master Teacher, the Lord Jesus? Have you learned that les- son? There is something even more important than daily necessary duties: and that is having a time, a precious time, of sitting at the feet of the Lord Jesus and learning from Him. -1 L I 'fs Now as they were traveling along. He entered a certain village: and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. And she had a sister called Mary. who moreover was listening tothe Lord's word. seated at His feet. But Martha was distracted with all her preparationsg and she came up to Him. and said. 'Lord, do you not care that my sister has lelt me to do all the serving alone? Then lell her to help me.' But the Lord answered and said to her. 'Martha, Martha. you are worried and bothered about so many things: but only a few things are necessary. really only one: tor Mary has chosen the good part. whirh shall not be taken away from her. I had personally sought to hire him a year before he came for another position: however, the all-wise Lord shut the door in order that Mr. Roembke might be available for the position of Vice-President of Business which would open in the future. Mr. Roembke has been God's man in just the right place at the right time. His expertise in the purchase and sale of property these last five years has been invaluable. His prior experiences with the Pentagon gave him thorough preparation to negotiate with the various local and government agencies for our lease of a portion of the Richards- Gebaur Airbase. His excellent handling of the finances has enabled us to maintain a balanced budget each year. Many hours of counseling the students is a daily demonstration of his love for God and his desire to serve the Lord and the students. The yearbook staff has made an excellent choice in dedicating the yearbook to Mr. James Roembke, a talented steward for God and Calvary Bible College. .stew iyiiyj ? 1 '13 '5?' . This should be the main goal and objective of ev- ery Christians life. ln applying this verse, it is important that we allow God to mold us into what He would have us to be, into His image. That is why the Junior class has chosen as its theme Vessels for the Master's Use. Our desire is to be so close to God and so sensitive to His leading that we will become vessels for His use. Now that we are juniors, we thank God for what He has done to mold us so far: and as we look forward to our last year, we wish to be molded more into God's image. - Kevin Mayfield, Junior Class President John Aldrich Dale Boggus Kflsll Banfl' Jonathan Barr Danny Bolden Harry Brady 'Q Martin Burnham Sue Buschmann 1' 1 1 I Roberi Cgrroll James Coakley Shaleen Cade ,,,,1. . - fw nf. . f-' -' -..' The goal was to have gifts and pledges amounting to 575,000.00 to cover the operating expenses for the upcoming year. Any amount over that will go toward a power increase, a new antenna site, and some much needed equipment. By the end of the week over 583,000.00 had come in and the final total is over 586,000.00 with approximately 700 people responding. Manager Don Hawkins stated that there was a large increase in the number of donors, and that the gifts came in earlier, but two basic differences from past Care-A-Thons were a major emphasis on prayer groups and the fact that most of the regular programming was suspended to provide updated briefings on the Care-A- Thon. Many people donated goods and services during the event and KLJC greatly appreciates the enthusiastic support of Kansas City's Sound To Live By from the Calvary family and many friends and listeners. were -3?l'lW CHRI TM 5 CONCERT ,T ..,3Q i f ,H nf 1 . QPsaIm 90475 It has been my privilege to work in the Student Senate this past year. Before I be- came actively involved in it I had won- dered what it was all about. Well, this past year I found out. Student Senate is the mediating voice between the student body and the school administration. To be the official repre- sentatives of the students has certainly been a learning experience, sometimes good, while at other times a little more difficult to appreciate. A part of the Senate is the responsibil- ities which always keep one busy: early meetings, late meetings. activities to plan, checking on the plans and other behind the scenes activity. But the Lord seems to always balance the burdens of responsibil- ity with the blessings of ministry such as serving others, partial financial support of student missionaries, the school project, and having a spiritual input in the lives of students and faculty. As I look back upon this year and remi- nisce, I thank the Lord for His bountiful blessings and for teaching me so much. I also am thankful to the students for their patience, support, and encouragement. The first Chris- tians that he got to know were from Calva- ry. So. when he wanted to learn more about the Scriptures. he just naturally turned to Calvary Bible College. He has always been interested in sports and got a degree in physical education from another college he attended. Coach Tschirhart enjoys coaching at Cal- vary because he enjoys working with peo- ple who are teachable. He enjoys the men- tal challenge involved in team strategy as factors change from one situation to an- other. He expressed the blessing that it is to get to know the other coaches and students whom he probably would not have gotten to know otherwise. He has found that the playing field or court is one of the quickest places to find a flaw in your testimony concerning tem- per and patience. He already knew that if was hard for a player, but now he realizes that it is that way for a coach, too. He could see a direct relationship between the amount of serious time spent in the Word and the proper attitude displayed during the game. He said that seeing effort displayed by those he coached was the most exciting thing that has happened this year. After being in secular sports all of his life. it was nice to work with people who were teach- able. Coach Joe Tschirhart Coach Robert Schneeberger Coach Schneeberger has always been in- terested in coaching. After he graduated from college. he coached for seven years in a public high school. A couple in Coach's church went to Calva- ry, and upon returning from school told him about an upcoming need in CaIvary's physical education depanment due to Coach Spencer's illness. Although he con- sidered it then, he waited three years until he had received his Masters degree. Even then, Coach Schneeberger had the privi- lege of working with Coach Spencer for the five years proceding his homegoing. Coach Schneeberger enjoys everything about coaching. He loves sports and en- joys working with young people. He has also found that no one person is indispen- sable to a good team. He enjoyed having an undefeated cross country season. He feels it was an excep- tional team. He has particularly enjoyed the last four years of basketball. especially the last two years on this campus. He has considered it a blessing to be able to coach his own two sons. Robert and Da- vid. He feels that the excellent way the team plays at the end of close games is one of the most exciting things that has hap- pened this year. He feels this shows team- work and maturity. He has also appreciat- ed the increased recognition that the team has gotten from the public. i 1 Steve Miller graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan with a teaching and coaching degree. He coached two years at a public high school. The overall environment and the Christian atmosphere found here influenced Coach Miller's decision to come to Calvary. He came and talked with the administration and Coach Schneeberger and was very much impressed. He came to get some Bible training as well as to teach and coach. He enjoys working with students and teaching them sports. He enjoys helping them grow in their interest of sports. He also enjoys helping them to develop char- acter that they could apply later in life. Coach Miller feels that he has been blessed by being under good head coaches. He also feels that in his first year at Calvary, he has been blessed with very spiritual teams whose main purpose was to glorify God. Coach Miller has found that winning is not everything. but it is important. He has found that his most important responsibil- ity is getting the players to give IOOW for the glory of God. He has also found that it is important to stay in control at all times. He feels that seeing the teams that he has coached grow in their walk with the Lord is the most important thing that has hap- pened this year.
