David Albritton opened up the year with one of his always dynamic messages. In October, Ed Cole encouraged the young men of Calvary to be men of God rather than to give in to the pressures of the world. Along the way, Doug Kooy challenged us to turn our backs on the world's garbage and to serve God with our whole heartg Cindy Cantu of the Holy Ghost Repair Service inspired us with her testimony of how God can use young people as long as we're willingg and our very own Mr. Calvary, Todd Wilson, shared from his heart on being kind to one another. We trust and believe that Satan will not steal this good seed which has been planted on your hearts, and that your hearts will be good soil. We praise and thank God for a bountiful harvest. 18 Leadership sg i f' fig- Q51 ig Y g K ,g 33 u .t:' . 1' iii 'aw' p 6 .i...c f c -I Vi. , 1. . 59 1 ' 1 ffl If . ig. pu... A word from the coach This year's volleyball team was a very special team. The verse in Hebrews 12:11 describes what was seen in these girls. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but pain- ful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. QNIVD The girls gave DOW: of themselves and showed, in the tourna- ment, that if you give all of yourself to Christ, He will indeed bless, The team consisted of 13 very special young ladies. I really enjoyed getting to coach these girls. They hold a special place in my heart. 60 Sports Ee ff am - -1 :rw ,11 1 I A 3, F' is -,.- M 'L ., H W l . 1 A i , N fsis, , .,A .V jr. It was five months ago that I took the raw bunch of recruits that you see on these pages and tumed them into a well oiled machine, Wfell, okay, it had a few rusty parts, all right then, a lot of rusty parts! But I believe this Nike staff did a first rate job, despite its sometimes poor leadership le.g. mel. It was my intention, one that I hope these working with me have picked up on and share, to minister to you, to challenge you to Take a stand fotjesusj' to wise up, to beat the iworld'sJ system, to choose life, to run for the prize, to turn your backs on the gods of men. I chose to do this through music in the hope that one of these songs would be your favorite and that you might take notice. Much thought and prayer went into which songs to use in an attempt to convey a special message to each one of you. So if you haven't really read the lyrics throughout this book, I challenge you to do so, carefully and prayerfully, and to ask yourselfwhethet they'te talking to you. It's my hope and prayer that you all will take a stand for jesus and that you will become more than conquerorsf' Sincerely, Mr. Ivets, Advisor ACX WN ? M 1. -W fmt. W . .
