Through his vote every citizen who has reached the age of twenty-one takes an active part in his government. Government of the people, by the people, for the people, is truly American in its design. The right of free speech and the right of assembly are also privileges Which are still ours. Let us not fail to appreciate these to the full. The right to practice any religion, without fear of oppression, was one of the reasons our ancestors left Europe to come to this land, To worship God, each in his own way, is still a sacred privilege enjoyed by every American. In the hands of the people of the United States rests responsibility for the democratic way of life in the Americas-The United States provides the roof under which oppressed people of other nations have taken shel- ter during several centuries. Our land with its abundant harvests has offered haven to refugees from many lands. To share our wealth, our happiness, our freedom, and our democracy, has been our custom ever since the days of such noble Americans as George Washington. Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln. lt is this design for living that we as a nation must fight to preserve: We must remain one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all. if

By taking advann tage of this time given us in class we are able to further expand what we know. This is one place where everyone has an equal chance to prove his ability. This is truly the best gift that could be given us. the right to go to school and learn. .f4fALficA Prom those who have gone before us, we inherit sportsmanship and good fel- lowship in athletics. They have set the example of fair play always. They have left to us who follow them better stand- ards in the Held of sports. ln this Wav they have given more pep and life to the youths of America.
