I I QMCLPCJ id! nd all STEP? CLFZSACLAS Hall guard captains-outstanding students selected by members of the faculty-are custodians of the corridors at Calumet. These captains, together with their Iieutenants, enforce the regulations made by the faculty sponsor and see that each guard is perform- ing his duty. These custodians are responsible for the cleanliness of the corridors and for the order maintained in them. The result of their labor is Calumet's hall guard system-one of the finest in the city, we Cavan-M0 gommiffee Heads up . . . Sleeves up . . . Clean up . . . With this prize-winning slogan as an incentive, Calumet cleaner-uppers, Ied by.C1loria Tanzer, rolled up their sleeves, and with a hard look in their eyes, pitched into the gigantic task of cleaning up not only the school itself but even of polishing-up some of the students of Calumet. Mr. Elmer Casey, a newcomer to our staff-he takes the place left vacant by Mr. Joseph Dickman-pepped us up to the point where We determined to win the title of CHICACiO'S CLEANEST HIGH SCHOOL, or else .... Contributing grammar schools, as well as various commu- nity groups gave line co-operation. In fact all Auburn Park con- tributed not a little to the clean-up project. Truly, this year's clean-up campaign has been one of the most successful programs ever participated in by the Calumet student body. we Suki? Counci The Safety Council is an all-city organization With a unit in every school. The Safety Council at Calumet, under the sponsor- ship of Mr. Bayston, endeavors to meet and cope with any kind of hazard around the school and to some extent even in the community. But the biggest job undertaken every year by the council is the registration of students who drive cars to school. The purpose of this registration is to insure complete information about the student in the event that he violates a safety law. When laws are broken the offender is subject to arrest and trial by the members of the Safety Council. The leaders of this year's group are Don Siegel, president: Melvin Koelhler, vice-president: Ray Kustach. secretary: and Roy Downey, treasurer.
