THE ALL CALIJMET CIVIC LEAGUE The executive department of the A.C.C.L. is made up of the president and his cabinet. The cabinet is composed of the twelve leading officials of the organization. Before each General Assembly these twelve students meet to dis- cuss the business which is to be presented to the room rep- resentatives at that meeting. Theirs is real work, directing Calumet's leading organization, and seeing that everything is kept in smooth running order. The legislative body is a representative group. Prom each session room, one delegate is elected to the Cieneral Assembly. The president of each recognized club. or an appointed representative. is also given one vote. Once a week, a meeting is held, which all delegates and the execu- tives attend. They discuss business, make plans and pass laws. Each representative reports back to his session room the ideas and plans of the A.C.C.L, The police force of Calumet was installed in 1939 to enforce A.C.C.L. legislature. Since then, many improve- ments have been made and it is now an efhcient group of twenty-Hve. lts aims, however, are not just the making of arrests, but the bettering of student conduct in such a way that each one may learn to adjust himself to the responsibilities of future citizenship. Although an exact duplicate of Calumet's A. C. C. L., Westcott's student government is not a supplement or a branch of the parent organ- ization at Calumet but an independent and self administered democracy. It has acquired a reputation for excellent student talent programs and general assemblies and its socials always have been not only great successes but delightful occasions, particularly so under the present administration of President Charles Johnson, Vice President Ed Pickering, Secretary Shirley Richardson, and Treasurer Harvey Winters.
