BUSINESS Ol: LIVING TOGETHER QQQOAO Cl Co I-O f8l l LEARNING TO WORK TOGETHER The All Calumet Civic League, the most popular and important organization of Calumet, endeavors to initiate students into the intricacies of democratic government so that they may leave high school with some preparation for future citizenship. Every government, in order to survive and function properly must be financially sound. The cost of this upkeep of government at Calumet is shared by every member of the organization. At the beginning of each semester, ive dollars is required of each session room, to which amount everyone contributes his part. Outstanding contributions to Calumet made by the A.C.C.L. include scholarship funds, football players' insurance, movie machines, a nickelodeon, and many enjoyable assembly programs. ln addition, this year, for the first time, the A.C.C.l.. published an interesting and useful year-book. The future aims of the organization are to build a student govern- ment in which all the students Will participate-a government which will benefit the majority of the student body and command their loyal support. To achieve these ends, Richard Krug, president, suggests giving students as many material benefits as possible, and maintaining a form of government that will appeal to all the students and insure their allegiance. The present officers of the A.C.C.L. will not Witness the completion of its plans for the future but they are confident that their goal ultimately will be reached.
