Keplmrt, Best, Bacon Precin. i22l THE HOME MANAGEMENT CLUB This club sponsors tours to such exhibits as, for example, the Chi- cago Lighting Institute where, during a recent visit, the members saw a demonstration in home lighting. and to the Spring Style Show Where Miss Lapp, of the School Sewing Service, introduced them to intriguing l939 fashions in feminine apparel. But its activities are not confined entirely to self-improvement. lt also makes contributions to the Children's Aid Society and to various hospitals. When the American Home Economics Association, with which the club is afliliated, convenes in the vicinity of Chicago, delegates from Calu- met attend and exchange ideas with members from other schools. To be eligible for participation in the club's activities one must belong, or have belonged, to a Home Management Class. Dues total twenty-five cents per semester and alternate Thursdays are meeting days for these wives and mothers of tomorrow. Mr. Downey, Mrs. Schaefer. Mrs. Sherman, Mrs. Jones. THE PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION The Calumet P.T.A. for twenty-five years has been a cooperative unit made up of parents and teachers of Calumet. Its long life-so the members contend-is attributable to its motto: With youth we learn the art of living. This year the Association celebrated its Silver Anniversary by pre- senting a pageant which showed the changes in style and custom that have taken place in the past twenty-five years. CALUMET ASSISTANT LIBRARIANS Aiding the students, each individually, is the motto of the Calu- met Assistant Librarians. Under the leadership of Naomi Fine, president: .Iune Heminway. vice-president: Lydia Vallera, treasurer: Peg Lowe, secretary, and Mary Kennedy, social secretary, the group not only improves the students' work, by aiding them to find the best information the library offers, but also carries on many activities which aid the student body. Miss Louise Randall sponsors the organization. About sixty-five girls work in the ten-periods of a school day. The Club emblem. with the letters C. A.
