Westcott Faculty Members ...noni at .BTA 5 53' ,..a Miss Lightfoot consults On hearing this, I decided to walk over to the branch. On arriving there, I went directly to the office, where I spoke to the clerk, Miss Lightfoot, who intro- duced me to Miss Kathryn Coyle, who is in charge of Westcott. Miss Coyle told me about the Westcott faculty. New members of our faculty this year are Mrs. Anna Miller, Mrs. Ruth Burton, and Miss Marie Kuglin. Mrs. Miller came from Englewood and teaches home economics, art, and general science. Mrs. Burton and Miss Kuglin teach both here and at the main building. Our teachers find that with the small group we have, many activities can be carried on. Mrs. McGinnis, formerly Miss Callis, sponsors the Drama Club. Mrs. Dilger has developed an excellent Glee Club. Mr. Gronert has the Veritas Club, a discussion group. A photography club flourishes under the leadership of Miss McGovern. Mrs. Reilly is largely responsible for Westcott's beautiful posters. Mr. Ahlberg has a Model Airplane Club. Mr. Merwick has a new industrial arts class. Miss Todd, English teacher, is probably one of our busiest teachers, for she is the school librarian. ' Miss Pine is on the advisory staff of the 'Calettef for which Miss Swain has the difficult task of acting as sponsor. BACK ROW: Carrie Barlow. BACK ROW: Wesley Ahlberg, BACK ROW: Helena McGinnis FRONT ROW: Charlotte I-Iorine, Mary Todd, Richard Busch. Grace Mills. FRONT ROW Anna Mildred Erharg FRONT ROVV: Helen Dilger, Mil- Miller. dred McGovern.

The February class of 1938 may well feel proud of its 265 members, for in scholastic ability this was one of the finest classes that Calumet has ever known. Leading in scholarship we find Elaine Roy, Valedic- torian, and following closely behind her, Violet Danielson, salutatorian. Alfred Schnoor was class orator. Glancing through some well known names in this class, we came to George Raymond, who deserves congratulations for winning an Armour scholarship. For their invaluable aid in the publishing of several annuals, we are deeply indebted to Shirley Sawallisch and Elaine Roy. Betty Stadem and Violet Danielson were outstanding as editors-in-chief of the Crier, and Charles Acker as circulation manager. This class will long be remembered as one of Calumet's most progressive.
