Fvbrzmry Clam Honor Council The Honor Council The Calumet Honor Council, sponsored by Mrs. La Vnda Armstrong, has about twenty-five members, chosen from the 4A class for their scholarship and good citizen- ship at Calumet. It functions as ri judicial body, trying and disciplining students who break school laws. Cook, Moline, The Chemistry Club The Chemistry Club, sponsored by Miss Jane Parmelee, is composed of students who have made E or S in Chemistry. As part of its program the club had several excellent reports made by its members. It also had a speaker from the University of Chicago. The club sponsored a Chemistry Day on January 24, during which various spectacular experiments were demonstrated to interested students. The oHicers were: Nelson Wetherell, presidentg Alice Nelson, vice-president, Roy Bothe, secretary, and Ted Klitzke, treasurer. Two of the members of the club, Nelson Wetherell and Robert Cantzler, won half- scholarships in the competitive examinations given by the University of Chicago. Lewis Pokrass and William Cook received honorable mention. Cal's Hellenians Cal's Hellenians is an organization that was formed at the beginning of the spring semester, by a group of students of Greek descent. It is the first club of its kind to be organized in any Chicago high school. All pupils of Greek descent are eligible for mem- bership. The purpose of the club 'is to interest members in school activities and to pro- vide an opportunity for getting acquainted with one another. At the beginning of the semester a party was given to which many students were invited. At this party the following officers were elected: Olga Pappas, presidentg Bessie Andrew, vice-president, Demetra Kapan, secretaryg Christine Karmis, treasurer. Miss McKinley is the club sponsor. Le Petite Alliance Early in the fall semester it was proposed that the French 5 students should have a club in order to acquaint themselves with more French literature, manners, and customs, and make French more interesting. This idea appealed to everyo-ne's fancy and delight and the club was established and christened La Petite Alliance II. The oflicers elected were: Genevieve Lash, president: Earl Hassett, vice-president, Marie Totter, secretaryg Ralph Beck, treasurer. An entertainment committee composed of Evelyn Schroll, Lois Knierim, and Bernice Schmidt arranged delightful programs of French games and plays. In the second semester the oflicers were: Bernice Schmidt, president, joseph O'Rourke, vice-presidentg Dorothy Mcllhany, secretary, Earl Hassett, treasurer. Marie Totter acted as entertainment chairman, assisted by Evelyn Schroll and Lois Knierim. Le Cercle Francais Le Cercle Francais, sponsored by Miss Cornelia Drolsom, is composed of students of French 6, 7, and 8. In September the group gave a tea and a play. The French depart- ment of Calumet, and a teacher and two representatives from each of eight south side schools were invited to attend. An interesting and varied program was given by differ- ent members at each aifair. The officers for the fall semester were: Jean Kennick, president, NVilliam Rose, vice- president, Evelyn jorgenson, secretaryg Robert Graham, treasurer. In the spring the officers were: Mary Ellen Riley, president, Dorothy Day, vice-president, Jeanette Van Dam, secretaryg Esther Martz, treasurer. Burk Rau'-Nelson, VanDam, Lennon.
