MOOSE McCANN, Tackle Moose McCann is the man whom Coach Dygert described as an ideal tackle. McCann's great defensive skill enabled him to stop many plays that were headed for positive gains. Moose is a senior. BILL HUMPHREYS, End Bill Humphreys was noted for his unfailing good humor. He was aggressive and a diflicult ma-n to take out, a line pass receiver, and a dependable blocker. Bill is a senior and will be missed at Calumet next season. AL TEED, Tackle Al Unconscious Teed was not a flashy player but a steady, dependable tackle. He acquired his nickname in the Parker game when he was quite badly hurt. How- ever, he recovered in time for the final game. Al was a ferocious tackler, especially in the Morgan Park game. He will be greatly missed next year. ED MCDONALD, Guard Ed McDonald, selected as all-section guard, Was a fine defensive man despite his lack of weight. Mac made it extremely diifcult for opposing linemen to take him out. He is a junior and is expected to be a valuable man in Coach Dygert's machine next year. JIM PIPER, Hal fback Jim Piper, Calumet's versatile triple-threat man, 'se- lected as an all-city halfback, was the mainstay of the team's running attack. He could pass, kick, and run with equal effectiveness. He had great driving power and was a deadly tackler. Piper's services will be greatly missed next year. Although Bud was the smallest man on the squad, he was considered by his teammates as one of the spunkiest. His deadly tackling made him a Hne safety man. He ran his team with military precision and his ight and pep kept the team on the go all the time. Bud is a senior, and will be sorely missed next year. PAUL BAUMAN, Fzzllbarle. s Because of the changes in school districts, Ted' Bauman was unable to report until after the Hrst game. Paul speedily showed that he was to be a valuable addi- tion to the team. His diving power made him an out- standing player. He was a good tackler and could al- ways be depended on to back up the line. MORTON COHEN, Guard. Mort was one of the most popular fellows on the squad. He was never willing to assume credit for his own skill, but always patted the other fellow on the back. He was a veteran linesman, with three years' experience on the squad. He was a good defensive man, as his tackling was excellent. When Mort was grad- uated in February, Calumet lost a fine athlete. WARNER OHMAN, Centcfr. Warner Ollie Ohman did not become known until the Parker game. His fine work in this encounter brought him into the limelight. He was a smart, aggres- sive player and as a result will be greatly missed next fall. PHIL SHAW, Qmzrtvrbacle. Phil Shaw was a very light man ,but this disadvan- tage was overcome by his clever playing and fighting spirit. Phil is a junior and is expected to be one of the mainstays in Calumet's team next fall. 7 I I l Q - .f . Page116
