Calumet High School Symphony Orchestra just a few years ago our orchestra consisted of some twenty to thirty members and had very little in the way of equipment, but each year more players and instruments have been added. The orchestra now has an enrollment of eighty players and entered the contest this year in the upper group. The required number of instruments for entrance into this class is seventy to eighty-live. The Junior Orchestra The Junior Orchestra consists of students from both the main building and Westcott Branch. The work is preparatory for the advanced orchestra and owing to the fact that the class contains students of varying ability and training, members usually remain two semesters in the junior orchestra before entering the advanced orchestra. Beginners may enter this class, taki-ng up violin, viola, cello, or bass. Many of the players in the large group started as beginners in the junior Orchestra.
