The 1987-8 Swim Team showed much improvement over previous years. They ended their season with a 5-7 record. Throughout the season the girls broke many records — Malin Gunnarson broke three records: the 200 yd. freestyle, 200 yd. medley, and the 100 yd. freestyle. Karen McBride broke two records: the one meter spring board diving — 6 dives, and a record with eleven dives. Stacy Taylor broke the sophomore record in the 100 yd. breaststroke. Malin Gunnarson, Angela Norman, and Linda Day broke the 200 yd. Medley Relay record. Malin Gunnarson, Angela Norman, Shannon Robinson, and Linda Day broke the 400 yd. Freestyle Relay record. The other record to be broken was the freshman 400 yd. Freestyle Relay Team consisting of Cindi Jackson, Laurie Noeson, Kim Holmes, and Melissa Moravec. Wrestling Has Successful Season The Calumet wrestlers ended the season with a very impressive 14-1 record. Their only lose came against 18th ranked Penn High School. The Calumet wrestlers placed fourth in the Mishawaka Tournament, out of 27 schools. The Warriors finished 6-0 in the Lake Surburban Conference and won their ninth sectional in a row and thirtheenth overall. They also won their fifth regional crown. Rudy Trevino made it to the state match. Rudy Trevino was surprised because he played the first part of the season on the junior varsity squad.
