Let’s Hear it for Spirit! A witty week of ways to dress up was sponsored by the Student Council from September 26 to 30. CHSers spent the week dressing up in celebration of Homecom- ing 1983. The Spirit Week schedule inducted “Kids Day” on Monday, “Sweats Day” on Tuesday, “Toga Day” on Wednesday, “Punk Day” on Thursday, and on Friday the traditional school colors of red and white. The annual Powder Puff football game was scheduled for September 29. The games enthusiastic female gridders “battled it out,” 22-20. The Junior-Freshman team, nicknamed the “River Rats,” beat the Senior-Sophomore squad, the “Tomcats.” Also during the week, the yearly Homecoming Revue was presented in the theater by drama classes. d: Sophomore Anthony McKeever shows his school spirit by dressing up on Toga Day. e: Senior David Pahl “punks out” during CHS Spirit Week. f: Junior Donna Stray er runs for a touchdown during the Powder Puff football game. Jones, Hughes Reign Royal Calumet area residents were dazzled by flower covered floats rolling through the streets during the Homecoming pre-game activities on September 30. The winners of the float con- test were the Lettergirls who were awarded $40. As the 4,000 roaring spec- tators cheered, the Warriors squeezed by Griffith, 7-6, at the annual Homecoming game. When halftime began, the noise of the crowd turned in- to a hush of suspense as they awaited the anouncer’s ver- dict. Tom Hughes and Lori Jones were chosen Mr. Foot- ball and Homecoming Queen. a: Spanish Club members create a float with the theme, “Viva Calumet. b: Lori Jones is selected 1983 Homecoming Queen. c: Theresa Bukur serves as a nominee for Homecoming Queen. d: Anna Hernandez serves in the Queen’s Court. e: Sophomores Tammy Sills, Samantha Sheely and graduate Pat Favuzzo celebrate a CHS victory at the Homecoming Dance, f: Candidates for Mr. Football are Luis Lopez, Don Neeley, Tom Hughes, and Ran- dy Marimen. g: Lori Rohr serves as a finalist for Homecoming Queen. h: Lettergirls creation won first prize in the float contest.
