Fitness is CHS concern Most subjects taught at CHS deal with mental strength and ability. It is also important to build the body, as well as the mind. Calumet High School of- fered comprehensive courses in physical education that tauent techniques to improve athletic abilities. Many students have found an interest in CHS’s newest sport, swimming, which was aided by the addition of a new pool. Drivers’ education is offered to students in their sophomore year. During the nine weeks of the driving course, students were taught the mental and physical aspects of driving. CHS offered an interesting course in health. A student tak- ing this class could learn about a person’s mental and physical make-up. A: Sophomore health students observe, wh ile Richard Krejci, sophomore, demonstrates one-man CPR, with the assistance of techni- cian Tammy Deel. B: Mr. Lou Lindinger, drivers’ education in- structor, assists sophomores Pam Van Vleet, Susan Chadd, and Jeff Conti during in-the-car training. C: Students in Miss Zella Doty ' s sixth period health class study for an upcoming test. Preparing for a world of finance and business Many students prepare for the business world by choosing courses in the Business Department. Classes offered in this department included typing, general business, shorthand, intensive laboratory, accoun- ting, business machines, in- surance and credit, consumer economics, and sales and retailing.
