Week spiced with spirit A wacky week of activities were planned by the Student Council from September 21 to 25. The Council sponsored a variety of dress-up days to celebrate the week. The Spirit Week schedule included Mon- day, Opposite Sex Day; Tues- day, Punk Rock Day; Wednes- day, Sports Day; Thursday, Go Hawaiian Day and on Friday students demonstrated their school spirit by wearing tradi- tional school colors of red and white. A Homecoming Revue was presented by the drama classes during the week, at which time the entire school poked fun at the opposing team. The annual Powder Puff football game was held on Thursday, September 23 dur- ing fifth hour. The Senior— Sophomore team was victorious over the Junior— Freshman squad. OEA captures float honors Rolling down the streets with bright colors of red and white, Calumet students cheered from their places on decorated floats in the parade. Office Education Association (OEA’s) entry won first place in the contest. Their theme was “Business is the Wind in Our Sails.” Screams and shouts accom- panied the growls of members of the Calumet High School football team as they entered the field for the annual 1982 Homecoming game on September 24. The light of vic- tory did not shine on the War- riors, as they were defeated by the Lake Central Indians by a score of 9-0. Halftime festivities included entertain- ment by the CHS band and Warriorettes. The crowds welcomed the chosen King and Queen, seniors Art Carrillo and Tomi Baigent. Tomi received a dozen roses, and both winners were presented with silver engraved key chains. A: Tomi Baigent is selected 1982 Homecoming Queen. B: Lynn Morganroth, senior was chosen to run for 1982 Homecoming Queen. C: Calumet Warriors hold back Lake Central Indians from scoring a touchdown during 1982 Homecoming game. D: Coming in third place in the annual Homecoming parade was junior Ed Growkiewicz ' s airplane with the tneme, Sail- ing Free in ' 83. E: Jeanean Sechrest, senior, is the third nominee for 1982 Homecoming Queen. F: The fourth nominee for Homecoming Queen is senior Diane Allbritten.
