Programs held for smarties The annual Calumet High School Honor Society induc- tions took place in the school auditorium. There were ap- proximately 26 new members inducted. Quill and Scroll Jour- nalism Honors Banquet was held on April 20 at tne Holi- day Inn at 1-80 and Cline Avenue. Patrick Ard, senior, was named Most Valuable Staffer” by the Post-Tribune, and Tomi Baigent, junior, was selected “Most Valuable Staffer,” underclassman, by the Hammond Times. Other awards included Most Con- tributing Yearbook Staff Member,” Cherill Baize, junior; “Most Contributing Newspaper Staff Member,” Brenda LaPlaunt, sopho- more; and “Most Inches of Copy,” Brenda LaPlaunt. Mr. Caroll Vertrees editorial page editor of the Post-Tribune was guest speaker at the awards presentation. Mr. Vertrees also presented the Post- Tribune plaque. Grads, gather at class feast Tradition prevailed on May 6 as members of the Class of 1982 gathered at Tiebel’s Restaurant to celebrate the annual Senior Banquet. Awards given during the evening included presenta- tions to Valedictorian Tina Greene and Salutatorian David Stadt. David was also presented with the Bausch and Lomb Science Award. Presentations were given to Cheerleaders by Miss Pauline Yatsko and to Health Occupations students by Mrs. Dorothy Hepp. Gag awards were also given.
