A V ery formal CHS occasion! Juniors Tina Greene and Curtis Forrester were selected Queen and King of the annual Junior-Senior Prom on May 8. The Event entitled “Always and Forever” was held at the Saint Elijah Ser- bian-Orthodox Hall in Mer- rillville. Music was provided by the area band, “Holy Smoke.” Photographs were taken by Spasoff Studios. The annual event was sponsored by the CHS Jun- ior Class. Mr. Brian Dye, fac- ulty member, served as sponsor for the first time this year. Left: Graduate Mark Buffington removes a garter from senior Peggy Spradlin. The big day comes at last Calumet’s Chris Traicoff Gymnasium filled rapidly as family members and friends arrived for commencement exercises on May 17. Approximately 230 stu- dents participated in the cer- emony. Myra Benjamin and Rich- ard Koscielski were selected as valedictorian and saluta- torian for the graduating class of 1981. Pam Mosely, class trea- surer, presented the wel- come speech. The class his- tory was recalled by Richard Koscielski, vice president. Myra Benjamin, class presi- dent, delivered the apprecia- tion speech. The invocation was presented by Pam Wheeler at the ceremony. Mr. Herbert Abramson, superintendent of Lake Ridge Schools, and Mr. Rob- ert Joseph, principal, distrib- uted the diplomas. Above Left: Delivering the traditional valedictory speech is Myra Benjamin.
