It was the students of Calmar High School and the whole town, in general, getting pepped up about the football game with ,Ar1ington. Our pep rally began with a snake dance. After a selection by tne band our cheer leaders led us in several yells. Head cheerleader, Lorraine Huber introduced the football squad, Coach Torgerson, and manager David Hosper-who made short speeches. INITIATION PROGRAM FRIDAY A. M.-- Friday morning was a scene of many fanaastic, weird looking creatures enterin the halls of Calmar High for it was the beginning S of initiation, No, it was not the comic paper walking around, but it was the freshmen. Some of the costumes represented were Jigga by Maren Preus, Mrs. Meany by Floyd Bucheit, Little Iodine by Joe Shind- dlar, Pansy by Ronald Moudry, Daisy Mae by Eddie Anderson, and Lil' Abner by Mary Jo Iverson. These are only a few of the comical faces that entered school Friday morning as well as bowing to the upper classmmsnon request, They responded very willingly while repeating, classmen on request. They responded' very willingly while repeating, 'We bow to thee, O worthy upper classmen.' PARADE BEGINS.- The parade startlng at l:45 marked the beginning of an eventful afternoon, October 17. Led by the high school marching band and mad- sfternoon, October 17. Led by the high school marching band and maj- orette, Lorraine Huber, the school buses and floats followed. The grade school float, which won first rating by the judges, Mr. John LaDue, Rev. Charles Paulson, and Mr. Idor Bjonerud, consisted of a covered wagon drawn by horses and followed by whooping Indians. Entered in the parade also were the senior float, representing a mower to 'mow 'em down,' the junior displaying the defeated Arlington players' cemetary, the sophomore float representing a homecoming stew of Arlington, the freshmen float depicting the football field with goal posts and a football, and F. F. A. float, displaying a life-size cow. GIRLS ELECTED FOR CANDIDATES-- The eight girls of the senior class were up for candidates as queeng the four highest being elected as candidates by the student body These four Were Lydia Lenslng, Darlene Schneberger, Audrey Hackett and Dorothy Flaskerud. Another election was held to vote the senior girl as queen and lt was Dorothy Plaskerud, and the second highest as her Senior attendant being Audrey Hackett. The other three classes met with their sponsors and elected the following: Maxine Colllgnon, the Junior Attendant, Elsie Kiel, the sophomore attendant, and Christine Johnson, the freshmen attendant. CALMAR TRAMFLES ARLINGTCN-- Calmar toppled Arlington for the second Homecoming victory in two years. The homecoming Queen was crowned at the half by the Captain who was Weselmann. The first touchdown was made by an intercepted pass by Floyd Buoheit on Arl1ngton's 45 yard line. The second tally was set up by a 60 yard punt return by Albertson which put the ball on the 12 yard line. It was then put over on two successive line plunges. The third score was made on a short pass from Weselmann to Iverson. The two teams battled at even terms in the second half. Slebiska played a fine defensive game knocking down enemy passes. Between the halves of the football game our queen was crowned by the team captain, Loren Weselmann, after which the queen gave her thanks and appreciation for being elected. This was followed by a flash of cameras displaying the queen and her attendants and the act of her Coronation. ' 1:.f:,Q ll ..?
