Postvllle It's almost together Thank goodness we're finished off it goes FFA The F F A was as active as ever this year They competed in a cattle Judging contest at the Waterloo Cattle Congress, which won third Place among F' I A boys all over the state The four winners were Raymond Lien, Leste Jotnson, Linus Rotrmever ard foseph Shlnde third P1809 among F F' A boys all over the state The four winners were Raymond Lien, Lester Johnson, Linus Rothmeyer and Joseph Shinde lar During the winter months the boys played basketball games with neighboring towns and entered a tournament at West Union All the boys sponsored worthwhile projects and profited from them immensely They raised funds by selling pop at games and Christmas cards during e year C CLUB The election of C-Club officers was again held this year with, Loren deselmann, president Louis Albertson, vice president, Francis Luzum, secretary and Laverne Massman, treasurer The club sold foot ball badges, held class tournaments in basketball, and presented inter eating boxing and wrestling exhibitions With the proceeds they plan to buy new warm up jackets for basketball With almost every boy possessing purple letter sweaters, the lettermen are easily distin guished in the high school GLEE CLUB Miss Margaret Balik directed the girls' glee club of 40 members this past year The girls' have all worked every hard toward their this past year The girls' have all worked very hard toward their entry in the music contest at Postville on April lO The glee club sang two selections, 'Light Divine' and 'The Czechoslovaklan Dance Song ' The girls' trio participated in the music contest at West Union on April 3 The trio consisted of the following Dorothy Flaskerud, soprano, Neva Maye Bjonerud, second soprano, and Jo Ann Frey, alto There was also a vocal sextette consisting of sopranos, Dorothy Flaskerud and Helen Schmitt second sopranos, Margie Lutkenhaus and Neva Maye Bjonerud, altos, Helen Horton and Jo Ann Frey BALD The Band this year is under the direction of Miss Margaret Balik Throughout the year, they have participated in a good many programs They played for the Lincoln Washington day program in Februarv The entire band played Christmas carols for the Christmas program Those who played solos at West Union on April 1 were clarinet, Randal Russett, alto saxaphone, Helen Horton bar1tones Mary Lou Mar tin and Carl Don Meyer snare drum, Carol Boss, and piano Neva Maye Bjonerud The cornet trio, consisting of John Iverson, Nancy Peck, won a first rating They competed in Other instrumental groups lncluded clarinet trio, and brass quartette The band played NPonce De Leon Overture' and in the music contest held at Postville Oh April 10 fu 'Xf- -1-2'f'6r i ur rn 'ULEUH sl Carol Rothmeyer and state music contest quartette, woodwind WRomant1c Overture' 9 ff s H 5.
