NX The foothills now are left behind f!cz4o ' The entire world has been startled by the astounding facts brought to light concerning the past life of the Senlor Class of Cal- mar High. after months of sleuthlng and spying, my reporter now pre- sents the true history of the graduating class of 1947 It seems that four years ago on a certain September morn! number of dark forms were observed sneaking in the direction of lgh school Their appearance testified that thev hoped to pass unob- served But all the evidence collected by my f0Dorter proves beyond a doubt that the timid ones were the freshman class on their first day of high school Poor things! They were 'green' freshmen until they were initiated by the sophomores after this big event, they no long er sneaked around hoping to be u obeerved, but started out vita a great determination to make the best of their high school years The 0188! 1083 two lwllberi -Germaine Houdek and Harold Martin The following year, I am told that the little freshmen who en tered school so meekly were now dignified sophomores Oh yes! They seemed to think they knew lt all Mot realizing how they had felt when they were freshmen, they initiated the new class and gave them m hard time During this year the class gained three members Shirley Hruska, Julian Fisher, and Stanley Elly, and lost Margaret Nashek, Theresa Kuhn, and Arnold Shlmek. Juniors of 1945 Yes, they now realized that they still might have a little to learn. This year the class gave the Junior class play, 'Take It lasy ' low was the time they showed everyone how lidh they had ilproved their dignity and how much their minds had devel oped The play was a big success under the careful guidance of Miss Sorenson They were hosts and hostesses at the Junior-Senior Banquet and they really worked out a swell theme 'Mexican Fiesta ' Students who Joined their class this year were Lorraine Ballk, Bette Doubek, Darlene Tupy, Marion Snyder, Bill Minn, and Mary Jean Shanahan U lost William Stsnseth Sophisticated Seniors of 1947 adding ld Peek and Della lobes, they now decided that they still had an awful lot to learn These same seniors gave a party for their fellow students and teachers on December 20 On November 18, they had their pictures taken and every one looked his best On May ll, the Juniors honored the seniors t a Junior Senior Banquet On May 23, 1947, twenty four seniors were a warded their diplomas and lt was then they realized that they were out of school forever and into the world on their own !esJ They were now very grown up in comparison to those meek little freshmen who en tered Calmar High School four years earlier as time goes on, they will always look back to those wonderful days they spent together at Oalmar High School The Path Ahead Xiu: i Q-fvbwx Bnt the mountains are ahead Bo today we start to climb The path we sometimes dread The foothills had s smoother path and there was joy upon the way le don't know whether to cry or laugh Ae we leave them behind today May ever higher be the peak To this new path we climb Till we find that which we seek and make our lives sublime XX QSXXSS QXSSQ ex ax w Win' Motto: Me Have Cllmbed The Foothills The Mountains Are Ahead Oolorsa Blue and lhlte llowerl Ihlte Rose Glass Officers: President Yloe President Secretary Treasurer faculty Advisor Bette Doubek Julian fisher Illllm Minn Kenneth langsness Miss M lallk and lr Iverson Egwrwwy Xian . .
