Stage managers were Francis Huber, John Krysan, and Richard Fje1stul.Plans are under way for the Senior Class Play to be staged sometime in the near future. CQNINIIEIQCIIAIL This is the fifth year Calmar has had a Commercial department in its high school. The enrollment in commercial subjects is steadily increasing. This year there are over fifty students taking commercial subjects and these subjects are open only to Juniors and Seniors. The courses offered in Commercial subjects are: Typing I, Shorthand, Book- keeping, Commercial Law and Business Arithmetic. March twenty-ninth, Ruth Novak, Rosemary Frana and Edythe Fisher went to Oelwein as a novice typing team to compete in the District Commercial Contest which was held there. Sixteen towns entered the contest and Calmar came out in fourth place. Pictured to the right is a glimpse into the typing room. The typing room is equipped with eleven typewriters and since that is not enough machines to accomodate all people wishing to take first year typing, two sections of beginning typing are given. Typing I classes are open to Juniors and Sen- iors. The typing classes have helped out in many of the extra-curricular activities this year. They have prepared programs for the class plays and other public entertainments. They have also helped out with the typing of the school paper whenever their services were needed.
