Class History The three-act play, Callender Public School, started in I947. Scene one took place in the First Grade Room. The cast included John Hod-' gin, Joan Lund, Karen Seely, Betty Heath, Stanley Orskog, Yvonne Buresh, Wanda Rasmussen, Quinn McMahon, Sandra Berkshire, and George Allard. The characters were nervous and shy when they walked on the stage for the first time. Under their director, Miss Mierson, they learned their first lessons in acting. George had a few lines left to learn so he remained for the next year's performance. -, Scene two took place in the Second Grade Room. That year, with the same players, Miss Mierson became Mrs. Sollie. The Third Grade Room was the setting for scene three. As the curtain rises we have four new actresses: Patricia Peterson, Darla Dowling, Virginia Christenson, and Dixie Gabrielson. The scene went smoothly under the direc- tion of Miss Smid. Karen Seely, Darla Dowling, and Patricia Peterson left at the close of this scene to accept roles in plays elsewhere. In scene four, we find the players congratulating Miss Smid, on becoming Mrs. Stevens. A new member, Karen Swift, took her place on stage for this year only. Because of her marvelous performance, Dixie Gabrielson was ad- vanced to scene five during the year. In leaving the stage, she was joined by Virginia Christenson. Scene five had the Fifth Grade Room as its setting. Harold Brundiage, Clifford Peterson, and Linda Sollie filled three new parts: John Hodgin left to take a part in the play, Slater School. Miss Schrad directed the scene this ear. Y The final scene of Act one took place in the Sixth Grade Room. A new member in the cast was Barbara Gallentine. Those leaving the play were: Yvonne Buresh, Patricia Heath, Harold Brundiage, Betty Heath and Clifford Peterson. Miss Schrad returned to direct the play for a second year. The first scene of ,Act two found the cast climbing the stairs to the Seventh Grade Room. Three new cast members were Alan I-Iaatvedt, Sarah Fredrickson and Robert Rasmussen. Quinn McMahon left at the end of the scene, which was directed by Mrs. Kersbergen, to join the play at Humbolt. , In scene two the play was located in the Eighth Grade Room. Rita Baudreau joined the play this year. The play was directed by Mr. Turner and Mrs. Erick- son. Before Act three began, the play was reorganized and was entitled the Callender Community School. As scene one opened twelve new players took their places on stage. They were: Marlene Rydman, Alice Stanek, Beverly Anderson, Bill Shafar, Sandra Pliner, Gene Stanek, Lyle Heatherington, Karen McLuckie, Gene Lauer, Loyla Jondle, Janet Thompson, and Donald Peltz. At the end of scene one Nadine Slagle and Donald Peltz left the play. Mrs. Miller and Mr. Enderson sponsored the scene. In scene two Barbara Gallentine, Gene Stanek, Stanley Orskog, Rita Boud- reau, left the stage. The cast's sponsor that year was Mr. Morgan. Throughout scene three the cast was busy with the Junior-Senior Prom. Christine Tippner joined the play at Christmas. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Loft- sgard helped with the play that year. The final scene in the play found the seniors with plans for the future. As the curtain lowers for the last time, the cast bids a farewell to the Callender School. 14 mi
