In 1946, sixteen children boarded the ship, the Callender Public School , and prepared themselves for a twelve year voyage across the W0cean of Educationu. M The passenger list included Bruce Brandt, Sydney Cox, Joe Cronin, Jean Slagle, Inez s Claudia Spirek, Judy Vinchattle, Clifford Peterson, Robert Rasmussen, Donald Sells, gg. McMahon, Larry Donaldson, Linda Sollie, Alan Haatevedt, Richard Larson, Jack Miller, x 'hx I and Timmy Ferry. Our captain was Miss Nerdig. On September 1, 1947, we docked at the port, Second Grade Room. Although Jack Miller and Richard Larson transferred to'other ships, we gained two new passengers, Lois Houdeshell, and Roger Loehr. Our new captain was Miss Mierson wi We were fascinated by the knowledge which this vast body of water possessed. Time passed swiftly and soon we were beginning the third year of our voyage. At this time Larry Donaldson left our group. Miss Sparks was hired as our guide. Ron Slama also, Joined us this year. Tommy Jones was welcomed aboard during the fourth year of our journey, and we waved farewell to Sydney Cox and Donald Sells. Miss Smid proved very capable in ,l:, steering the ship along its course. At the port, Fifth Grade Room, our next captain, Miss Thora Hovey, awaited our 'nw arrival. Donnie Cassatt, Donna Skoland, Herman Sahr, Dixie Gabrielson, and Deanna Williams were added to our passenger list. Later on, Donna Skoland, Donnie Cassatt, and Timmy Ferry departed from the NCallender Public Schoolu. Linda Sollie and Clifford Peterson remained at the port, Fifth Grade Room. In 1952, Miss Hilda Schrad took over the position as captain. Herman Sahr trans- ferred to the WFarnhamvilleW at the close of the year It was an eager class of boys and girls that crowded the deck as we neared the m EV J np., . gf t port, Junior High School. We tucked our childhood in a treasure chest and threw it I overboard. Now we were faced with all the problems of youth. Mrs. Kersbergen was said hello to Worth Gallentine, John Paulson, and Phyllis Rivera, and we said good- . bye to Tommy Jones and Deanna Williams. Robert Rasmussen and Alan Haatevedt remained our captain during these two important years. At the port, Seventh Grade Room, we I 'Humboldv A class of twelve students, six girls and six boys, were now ready for ninth - at this port. After completing eighth grade, Inez McMahon transferred to the I a u test known as initiation. During this year we encountered many adjustments and new experiences. At the end of the year, Phyllis Rivera left our ship to complete the journey on the WGowrie'. In 1956, we observed a large ship approaching the NCallender Public Schooln. The NSchool.ReorganizationN brought us nine new passengers Sandra Pliner, Larry Anderson, Harold Lemmon.Frances Schuster, Gloria Urban, Shirley Hanson, Sally Meinen grade. To be truly deserving of the title, Freshman Class, we had to pass an entrance I I' Dennis Johnson, and Darwin Hanson. In March, Kenneth and Wilson Woodruff came aboard. 1.u ' Jean Slagle left us in May. Our ship was now known as the 'Ca1Iender Community Schoo - The highlights of our junior year were the class play and the junior-senior ban- , quet. This year we applied many changes to our passenger list. First, we added ext Judy Clapper, Lawrence Reiter, and Duane Onnen. Leaving us at the end of the year gji were Sandra Pliner, Worth Gallentine, Judy Clapper, and John Paulson. Harold Lemmon 'J' Wilson Woodruff, and Lawrence Helter discontinued the journey altogether. gtow Our last stop was Twelfth Grade. This year was filled with activities, gradu- TQQ ation plans, and preparation for the future. Our voyage is completed. We have Sys re ehed our destination. Seventeen students wave a fond farewell to the 'Csllender .E Community School' and then turn to face a challenging world.......where.. - 'With the ropes of the past, we will ring the belle of the future.' .
