All-American Linebacker John deFries and Rambler Mike Raney stood out on a strong defense which held three teams scoreless, including a preciously unbeaten and top rated Cal Lutheran team in a 49-0 em- barrassment. Led by seniors Larry Weddle who scored 499 points and handed out 94 assists, and Larry Crowell who grabbed off 330 rebounds and compiled 406 points, the West- erners finished an inconsistent season with a 15-14 record. With the return of junior forward Tim Collins, who scored 375 points and pulled down 216 rebounds, and a strong group of sophomores led by center Lloyd Burrows and guards John Stevenson and Steve Thornton, U.S.l.U. is looking forward to the 1970-71 season.
