The works were Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari ' s II Segreto di Susanna (The Secret of Suzanne) and Gian-Carlo Menotti ' s Amelia Goes to the Bail. Both operas are combinations of wit and fun, and both were repre- sentative of the early achievements of their composers.
