wi -.... S F f F 1 lf ' Um ILmmm llllllllllWu .,, M MWim,Q +1+1+l++ x l,1xi l N w S 'uw N lmmllllw 4 e55age i NN 'denxs my Vvesl Congratulations to the graduates of the Class of 1963! The educational program which you have completed at Stanislaus State College was designed to provide the finest education possible for young men and Women in this area of California. To accomplish this objective, the Very highest of academic standards are maintained. This is a heritage provided to us by our founding president, Dr. J. Burton Vasche. High academic standards demand greater effort on the part of the students and the faculty. We know that in the years ahead you will recognize the value of your investment of effort at Stanislaus State College. We are still a very small institution but We are making our mark among the state colleges in California. The degree to which our graduates achieve success in their chosen careers will measure the degree to which Stanislaus State College will continue to influence the community of higher education in California. I Wish you success in your career and in your life as citizens of the United States, the State of California, and the community in which you live. Gerard J. Crowley Acting President

BROWN H T T ti H 'E T T . .N v A it ,, Ng if Dedication As we look to our future, it is appropriate to consider our past. There are many people who have contributed to the success of the college. Perhaps those who have contributed the most are those who founded the college. The two men primarily responsible for the establish- ment of a state college in Stanislaus County are Senator Hugh P. Donnelly and Former Assemblyman, Ralph M. Brown. Senator Donnelly, as Chairman of the Senate Ed- ucation Committee and member of the Senate Finance Committee, and Assembly- man Brown, as Speaker of the Assembly, were indespensable in the passage of legislation vital to the education of thou- sands of college age students in Stanislaus and the surrounding counties. It is then, with great pleasureand pride that we, the Associated Studentsof Stanislaus State College, in an effort to say thank you for a job well done, dedicate this, our 1963 LEGEND, to two of the State's most distinguished legislators, Senator Hugh P. Donnelly and Former Assemblyman Qnow Judgejlfialph M, Brown, Dennis Gibson, President Associated Student Body Stanislaus State College
