Message from the President The close of the first academic year at Stanislaus State college stands in history as the year of marvelous achievements. The college held its formal opening ceremonies on Monday, September 19, 1960, at which time more than 3,000 friends of the college were present along with 790 students who enrolled for the first semester. This pioneering year has been characterized by a wonderful spirit on the part of the stu- dents, faculty, and staff alike, and the traditions which have had their beginning are certain to be broadened and deepened as the college develops next year and in all the years ahead. The faculty at Stanislaus State College is composed of outstanding scholars and experienced teachers, each of whom accepted opportunity here in order to take part in the development of California's fifteenth state college. We are proud of the students who have shared in this first year's program. Their interest and cooperation has been reflected in the high academic standards which are stressed on this campus. All in the SSC family are dedicated to the development of this college as one of the state's and nation's finest institutions of higher learning. Toward the fulfillment of this goal, all of our future efforts will be directed. Q.. 7Bw1'2.?,., Wlasdea I. Burton Vasche, President 4
