California State University, Sacramento is California’s Capital Campus CSUS, one of the major members of the nation’s largest system of senior public higher education, is celebrating it’s fortieth year of providing quality education. What sets the University apart from other collegiate institutions is it’s unique location in California’s capital city. Let’s look at the impact of this setting. The budget of the State of California, when compared to the nations of the world, ranks among the top five. Much of this budget is administered in downtown Sacramento, five miles west of the CSUS campus. The ensuing governmental process enhances the CSUS educational experience in a number of ways, from the internship, part-time employment and career opportunities available to students to the many part-time faculty members who bring with them the relevancy of their concurrent professional employment in the governmental process. Some colleges have an invisible ‘ivy covered’’ wall around them which isolates them from their community. For them, the community does not play an important part in their life of the college or their students. Not so in Sacramento! CSUS is a college without walls! The University has a love affair with it’s Community. With an annual budget of over
