To the Graduates of 1980: Congratulations upon your graduation from California State University, Sacramento. The degree you are receiving reflects a significant achievement in your life, and you have every right to feel proud of yourself and your accomplishment. Along with that feeling of pride, however, comes a frequently un- settling look ahead. You are entering the next phase of your life at the threshold of an era some refer to as the bewildering 80s . No one can predict with assurance what the decade holds. Indeed, about the only thing we can predict is that there will be change and uncertainty. And that is where you are fortunate. The education you have received equips you to handle the changes of the 80s not because of what you know, but because you are better able to analyze, to plan ahead, and to create.
