FOREWORD Sacramento State, as one of the links in the chain of the California State College system, has a special purpose to fulfill. For we are the ‘home’ college, so to speak, and because of our location in the capital city, our standards and goals must be set particularly high. The scope of our activities, both academic and social, already reflect on many persons as an example for other colleges to follow. Our development in the classroom, as each semester progresses, and our preparation for future work help us gain thoughtful minds and maturity. But we also gain in knowledge of leadership and friendship through student government, clubs, athletics, fine arts, general activities and publications. All of these make up our memories of college life and Sacramento State, and here, as a partial | record of these things, is the 1954 Statesman. y y f
