Student Council The Student Council completed a successful year of operations in 1949-50 with the inclusion of a new office. A “Commissioner of Fine Arts’’ was added to the commissions of student government, student cooperatives, athletics, and publications. The duties of the various commissioners operating in their respective departments include athletic and rally activities, drama and mu- ‘ sic department planning and laison work, publicity and publications, planning for student cooperatives, and student body election sup- ervising. These councilmen selected the official rings, planned the very successful jamboree, and budgeted the monies from the $4,800 student body fund to the various studeni activities. Editor-in-Chief Buzz Chub The Buzz Club, Sacramento State's pep and rally organization has become one of the most active organizations on the campus. Organized in the fall of 1948 for the purpose of promoting student support for State’s varsity teams through the media of providing rooting sections and planning and presenting rallies, it has carried out its purpose throughout this year with numerous rallies to encour- age student enthusiam. Members of the Buzz Club can be identified by their white “V’ neckline sweaters, with a representative green and gold block 'S” surmounted by a hornet on them. Florence Bolla, George Woodhouse, Cody Goodnight California Student Teachers Association The C. S. T. A. is the junior branch of the California Teachers Association. Some of the aims of the group are to stimulate the high- est ideals of professional ethics, to improve educational services in general, to foster active cooperation between training institutions and their student groups and to develop professional attitudes among student teachers. Sacramento State College is one of thirty-one teacher-training institutions belonging to the state-wide organization. Membership for the state exceeds 3,000, with our school contributing 65 members. The Green and Gold Varsity Club was organized as an on- campus organization during the fall semester of 1949. It is an honorary society open to all male students at the Sac- ramento State College who have lettered in one or more intercollegiate sport activities. The Biological Association of the Sacramento State College The Biological Associaton of the Sacramento State College, or better known to the students as B. A. S. S., is one of the oldest clubs on the campus. It was organized in January, 1949, by several of the State students majoring in Biological Science. Membership is open to students of both colleges, who have taken at least one three unit biology course. The objectives of the club are both academic as well as social. The first objective is to protect the flora and fauna of our country. The second objective is to pro- mote the knowledge and understanding of Biological Sciences. Coach Conrad's squad played a very representa- tive schedule on which were last year’s A.A.U. champions, C.I.A.A. champions, and this year’s N.I.A.B. champions. The Hornets ended the sea- son with an impressive win over the Los Angeles State College. Scoring honors went to forward Pete Peletta, followed by center and captain Jack Heron.
