CONSTRUCTION OF A new wing on the now existing Administration Building was started during the fall term. The building of the wing is part of this year’s expansion program which includes a new Fine Arts Building and a new Science Building. ggg Twelve Years of Campus Growth HAVING arrived at the twelfth chapter in the Cinderella story book, Long Beach State College is con- tinually growing. Progress has been the criterion of our campus, and this particular year, we are able to reflect the accomplishments, the foundation of brick and look at ourselves as steppingstones of the future. TWELVE—There are 12 inches in a foot, 12 months in a year, and now, 12 years completed since the found- ing of Long Beach State College. The number 12 is a significant part of our campus and ties in well with this recently completed twelfth year. For example, there arc 12 separate and distinct groups of buildings on our campus. Our cafeteria serves meals 12 hours per day on regular school days. There arc 12 varsity sports offered by our physical education program. as you begin reading this year's PROSPECTOR, keep in mind how the number 12 fits in with our campus and its students. A RAINY NIGHT. Students have left for the day and the lights keep a vigilant watch on our deserted campus. 5

HOUSING the Speech-Drama classrooms, Fine Arts Building I was one of the first buildings on upper campus. Adjacent to this building is the Little Theatre. PRIOR to the completion of our three-story Library building last year, the facilities were housed in a smaller one-story building. There are three reading rooms which give students ample study space during library hours.
