ASSOCIATE LIFE SCIENCE STUDENTS The Associated Life Science Students QALSSQ is an organization of pre-professional students. lt provides a forum wherein students meet with spokespersons from the various professional schools. Recent activities of the ALSS include visits to the campus by Dr. Peter Van Houten, Director of Student Ad- vising and Assistance at U.C. Berkeley, who discussed factors and trends in medical school admissions. Dr. .lack Luomanen of the Berkeley Free Clinic, who discussed problems of admission to dental schools, Polly Wheat, a second year medical stu- dent at U.C. San Francisco Medical School and a former CSUH student, who related to students her ex- periences in the application and ad- mission to medical schoolp Dr. Robert Gibson, Director of Ad- missions at UCSF'School of Phar- macy, who talked about pharmacy school admissions and the job out- look for the profession, Dr. Lee Husting, then Director of Health Sciences at CSUH, who discussed opportunities for alternative health science careers. The students of ALSS also had the opportunity to tour UCSF Medical School, UOP Dental School lin San Franciscoj and UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Another highlight of last Year's activities was a venture into the fast food budiness world, when some ALSS pre- professionals prepared and sold submarine sandwiches at the Science Expo as our fund-raising event.
