Riley, V. Mastelotto. PURPOSE. To promote harmony and cooperation among the social fraternities of Chico State College. HISTORY: The Interfraternity Council was founded in the fall semester of 1939 by the Iota Sigma, Delta Psi Delta, and Chi Tau fraternities, With the Lambda Pi Fraternity being admit- ted in 1944. Proving of beneiit in coordinating the fraternities, more confidence has been placed in it through the years. CHIT U PURPOSE: To build character and to create a stronger feeling of brotherhood through toler- ance. The basis for the narne 'AChi Tau is character and tolerance. HISTORY: The Chi Tau Fraternity was founded in May, l939, by seventeen charter mem- bers vvith Dr. Earl C. Hald as adviser. In April, 1940, the first pledges Were initiated.
