Kangaroo Kourt was the highlight of the fall semester. The Kourt was held for the punishment of first-year men and Women who had in some way violated the rules of order. Following precedent, practically every popu- lar freshman student Went on trial for some comical offense. President Moore presided over the festivities which were carried off as being in one of the old Roman courts. In the spring semester the sophomores and freshmen cast aside their rivalry and joined forces to sponsor a dance for the student body in Memorial Hall. The dance was held fol- lowing the Chico State-Fresno State basket- ball game. Class members were especially active in ath- letics, with football predominating.

Gene I-lammerstrom The frosh had their first chance to dis- play spirit in the construction of the tradi- tional bonfire for Home-Coming Day. After two nights of guarding, the frosh were re- warded for their vigil by the locks of five California Aggie students, who had made a raid on the Chico campus with incendiary ideas. The friendly spirit continued in the spring when the freshmen joined the sophomores in putting on a joint dance. The hop was held in Meemorial Hall. When several freshmen forgot the traditions, the friendly spirit was cast aside and the law-breakers were punished in the usual way-by dunking in the Chico creek. Sam Wolf, freshman from Redding, who guided the destinies of the class through two semesters, deserves special mention for his con- tributions to the college.
