The new commerce department was well represented in the field this year with Lorenzo A. lVlcHenry. assistant professor of commerce, publishing two articles in two marketing journals. The iirst, A Brief History of Price Stabilization Attempts in the California Grocery Trade, was used by the California Retail Grocer's Advocate. The other, Recent Developments Under the California Unfair Practices Act, was printed by the Journal of Marketing in October 1938. In history and English iields, Miss Anna Louise Barney and Dr. R. W. Van Alstyne were active, the former publishing several poems in various poetry publications. Dr. Van Alstyne's review of Notter's The Origins of the Foreign Policy of Woodrow Wilson was published in the June issue of the Journal of Modern History. ' In addition to these specialized activities in their respective fields, members of the college faculty have busied themselves during the past school year in various events in conjunction with the students. During the Pioneer Day celebration, the faculty entered one of the most beautiful Hoats in the parade, which was acclaimed the most successful in the history of Chico State College. RUTH E. STUDENT BARRATT RAY President A. S. C. S. Pall TONY COLOMBERO President A. S. C. S. Spring Q Two of the most rep- resentative college students are Barratt Ray, top. and Anthony Colombero. Bar- ratt has been active in his years at Chico State as a football candidate, basket- ball manager, officer in the Delta Psi Delta fraternity, and other posts as a student leader. He was president of the Associated Students during the fall semester of 1938. Tony is also a member of Delta Psi Delta, and has held down numerous appointive positions on committees for student events. He was president of the Student Body during the spring semester of 1939. Student Body activities this year have been nu-merous. Noon dances in the rotunda had all the fire and spirit of any healthy youthful get-together. Skating parties, dances, and picnics were sponsored by the Associated Students of Chico State College during the past year. Co-educational Day, held in May, was one of the highlights of the spring season, -Rosemma Ahlborn was in charge of the annual play-day. Home-Coming Day and Pioneer Day, the two outstanding Student Body events of the year, were acclaimed the most successful in many years. .
