EL CLUB ESPANDL Founded az' Chico State College October 15, 1929 Purpose: To foster and encourage an inter- est in the Spanish language through social activity. CALENDAR OE EVENTS October 15: Out-of-door party. December 16: Annual Christmas party. March 29: Skating party. April: Picnic. OUTSTANDING EVENT Occupying the most prominent spot on the El Club Espanol's calendar was the annual Christmas party held December 16 in the Auditorium lounge. lnvited to attend this Christmas party were members of Alpha Mu Gamma, honorary language fra- ternity, and members of the French and Spanish classes. The usual custom is the breaking of the pinada, a sack Hlled with choice delicacies. This is done by a blindfolded person. When the sack is broken, a mad scramble ensues with all those present trying to get a choice parcel. Following this, josh presents are given to each person. The evening is usually termi- nated by dancing and Spanish refreshments. The Christmas party is always an enjoy- able aifair, especially when an active group is on hand.
