Alpha Chi OUTSTANDING EVENT Pan Hellenic formal was the outstand- ing event on the social calendar. lt was held April l at Richardson Springs. Since the theme this year was the San Francisco Exposition, decorations were a miniature tower of the sun and garden plots of col- orful spring flowers. Committee heads for the dance were: Maxine Heard, invitations: Dorothy K, Anderson, programs: Loraine Bass, dec- orations. Although few formal dances have the natural spirit that usually attends college dances, the Pan Hellenic formal this year showed that a more dignihed affair than most collegiate events can still be enjoyable. More than 50 couples took part in the dance.

Richardson Springs was the scene of the annual Christmas formal held on Decem- ber 17. The room was decorated in silver and blue. Gaily decorated Christmas trees were a part of the decorations. On February 25, at an impressive cere- mony, the formal initiation of eleven pledges took place. Pounder's Day of Alpha Chi sorority was celebrated at an informal social held on Tuesday evening, May l6. Climaxing a very successful season, the annual formal dinner dance was held at the Oroville Inn on May 6. The sorority insig- nia in gold, orchid, and white decorations, and the sorority ships, were used in the decorative the-me.
