The events were opened with a serious and impressive initiation ceremony for the incoming pledges. The group then adjourned to the main dining room for the guest talks. Dr. Aymer J. Hamilton was the speaker for the fall meeting. In the spring Dr. Floyd Caldwell gave the main speech, which was received warmly. The new members initiated at the fall ceremony were: Myron Ayers, Loraine Bass, Edith Berriman, Rosemma Ahlborn, Frank Bennett, Helen Ganevari, Helen Cay- wood, Inez Culbertson, Warren De Ber- nardi, Doyle Bailey, Elizabeth Edson, Al Schlueter. Dolores Dillon, Norma Jaekel, Harriet Hill, Betty Williams, James Wil- son. and Evelyn Zemel. Spring initiates were: Mary Kay Steffen, Henry Kivlahan, Mary Lena Zamboni, Merle Kusel, Jeanne Gallatin, Alta Wageman, Mrs. Grace West, Richard Nunes, and Mary Frances Davis. FACULTY MEMBERS Dr. Lloyd D. Bernard, Dr. Floyd Cald- well, Dr. Lawrence T. Crawford, Dr. A. J. Hamilton, Mr. Philip Hoff, Mr. Lloyd Landis, Mrs. Gail Paulson, Dr. Guy West, Mrs. Jessie W. KAPPA DELTA PI Founded at Chico State College May 17, 1926 Hi m 'lt' ur no li Purpose: To encourage in its members a higher degree of devotion to social service by fostering high intellectual and personal standards during the period of preparation for teaching, and recognizing outstanding service in the field of education. CALENDAR OF EVENTS September 29: Guest speaker at meeting was Dr. Mclntire, principal of Chico High School. His topic was, Views Principals Take on Prospective Teachers on Application. October 20: Guest speaker was Mr. For- dyce Stewart, who gave an illustrated lecture on his tour through Europe. December l: Formal Initiation. Dinner at Hotel Oaks, with Dr. A. J. Hamilton as guest speaker. Following the banquet a dance was held at Richardson Springs. January ll: Business meeting. February 17: Program arranged by new members. Dr. Leon W. Fuller, guest speaker. His topic was, Effect of New Forms of Philosophy of Government on Education. March 30: Formal Initiation. Dinner and dancing at Richardson Springs. Talk by Dr. Floyd Caldwell on elementary edu- cation. April 27: Business meeting, with Mr. Mar- tin, superintendent of public schools, as the speaker. OUTSTANDING EVENT The foremost undertaking of Pi Epsilon Sigma during its first semester was a trip to the Golden Gate Exposition. The dele- gates spent the week-end of the Easter vaca- tion in the Fair city. Trips to the science and engineering exhibits were included.
