I WOMEN OF CSB CHILDREN'S CENTER uummu -w::::!!'- Through the efforts of the Associated Students and the Children's Center Director Diane Hendrickson, evening child care hours were estab- lished to benefit student-par- ents that have evening courses. A.S. Council passed a measure allocating $4,500 to the program for Spring Quarter 1984. The Associated Students also scheduled a Children's Cen- ter Day allowing young, growing, learning minds to establish a role model. During the scheduled day, children of Cal State Bakers- field students, faculty, and staff visited the AS. Office, had their pictures taken, and pretended to be A.S. execu- tives. A good time was had by all. 27 28 ASSOCIATED STUDENTS FRIDAY NIGHT AT CSB On Fridays The Assoicated Students Sponsor Films Free Of Charge To Students mmHHErHHUaN AaNZOEKUDDm 30 32 THE RUNNER z! A Putting out weekly issues of the school newspaper on a barebones budget is not an easy task. Despite this, how- ever, The Runner is filled with up-to-date news as well as features and editorials on campus life. In addition to their journalis- tic duties, The Runner staff continues to maintain a good relationship with the Associ- ated Students. Both have complemented each other and have added to school spirit. As a result, the award win- ning Runner has firmly en- trenched itself as a part of Cal State Bakersfield. 38 FRATERNITY oft! Cathy Boutwell A special thanks to Fred Sbardellati of Steven Studios for all his support This book is sponsored by the Associated Stu- dents of Cal State Bakersfield. A yearbook is a very important part of a college. It is as much as institution as the school newspaper. If such a program is lost, students will be missing something, especially those who are graduating. With no funding, no advisor, and no staff, Cal State Bakersfield was not going to have a yearbook at the beginning of this year. Fortunately, because of the efforts of the Associated Students, a yearbook staff was organized. Of the few students on staff, however, none were yearbook staffers the previous year. And as for myself, 1 have never been on any yearbook staff, nor have I ever taken a layout or journalism course. Despite the odds, a yearbook was published. As for the future of the yearbook, I encourage students to become involved. If Cal State Bakersfield is to con- tinue to have a yearbook, it will have to be students that make it happen. Al Tello Editor, Treillage
