oh my aching back! donht eat yellow snow you get up early, around 2:00 and wipe the sleep out of your eyes. check and make sure iths all there: long underwear, gloves, socks. you drive the 3-4 hour drive; racing the sun and racing others to get on the slopes when the lifts start moving. ifs cold. the wind bites through your protective clothing. your nose gets cold and worft stop dripping. your fingers tingle and your feet itch. you look to the in- side; youhre 0n the lift. this is it. youhve waited who knows how long to get back. now youhre here again. youhre on the slope, traverse stem, keep that weight balanced. whoops! thud! the snow mes. you cuss yourself .for falling and start over again. runs later. youhre worn out. you trudge up the steps of the lodge t0 the re- freshment stand, ask for your favorite brew, sit down and watch the sights. you meet some far out people, make arrangements for an even- inghs activities and split. back at the chalet the tire crackles, scenting the room with pine. everyonehs there. sore calves and stiff should- ers are forgotten. iths a ski bash. the rest is up to you.S.S.S.
